Starling Strategy is a boutique strategic advisory firm that helps large organizations to develop and execute digital strategies to change laws, build coalitions, and drive positive change.
Starling is a young company with a start-up-like environment. We build things greater than the sum of their parts, including nation-wide community college fellowship programs and foreign aid reform advocacy campaigns. The Senior Strategist will play a key role in both our current projects and future growth.
There's never been a better time to learn, adapt and collaborate with amazing people around projects that make a positive impact. More than any service or product, our curiosity for what technology makes possible, optimism for what each other can bring and passion for delivering results defines Starling.
Some of our most exciting work comes from helping clients realize what they often already sense, through discovery, research and thoughtful reflection. That said, we're often asked to challenge existing ways of working with new ideas that need to be made accessible and actionable to teams stuck in their old habits.
Here's how you fit in:
- Design campaigns and projects that leverage best practices in advocacy, communications and organizing with our clients' needs. This may include introducing goals and KPIs clients haven't considered, commission and interpret audience/user research and develop practical tools that implement abstract strategies.
- Experiment. We're big believers in prototyping, using no-code environments to build user experiences and tools that would otherwise be bullet points in a memo. A bias towards action, even if it means showing the client something they weren't expecting, is greatly appreciated.
- Communicate clearly. Whether writing copy for social or synthesizing a persona workshop into a deck, you can convey complex concepts through compelling content. And you are able to appreciate accidental alliteration.
- Bring a disciplined approach to project management that supports the virtual, fast-moving work at Starling. We are an entirely virtual group that interfaces with multiple clients through a variety of digital platforms, and would benefit from someone who goes the extra mile to keep things organized.
While experience is important, your sense of taste and ability to listen matters even more. Some people need a few years to build the confidence and skills to engage clients successfully, others are born with it. We're open to people who are relatively early in their career, or more senior people looking for a little more flexibility, camaraderie and joy in their work.
Full-time and part-time possible. This position offers healthcare, retirement savings and other benefits. Short-term contract arrangements also considered. Basically we can be flexible for the right person and compensation is competitive. Let's talk; Apply below.
